Facing the complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic, many export industries were severely affected. However, Vietnam’s rubber exports are a bright spot while maintaining growth momentum.
According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in September 2021, Vietnam’s rubber exports reached about 195 thousand tons, worth 321 million USD, up 2.8% in volume and 3.1% in value compared to August 2021; compared with September 2020 decreased by 5.1% in volume, but increased by 21.2% in value.
The average export price was at USD 1,646/ton, up 0.3% compared to August 2021 and up 22.7% compared to September 2020.
Vietnam’s rubber area is currently ranked fifth in the world, accounting for about 5.6% of the total global area. In terms of rubber output, Vietnam is ranked third in the world, accounting for about 7.7% of the total amount of natural rubber in the world, behind Thailand and Indonesia.
Currently, there are 238 rubber processing enterprises nationwide, with a capacity of nearly 1.2 million tons/year. Particularly, Vietnam Rubber Industry Group has 44 rubber latex processing factories and enterprises, with a designed capacity of 433 thousand tons/year, accounting for 36.1% of the capacity of rubber latex processing facilities nationwide. .
